GREENVILLE, S.C. — The SC Upstate Redhawks used a strong second-quarter surge and a dominant performance from Joseph Battle to defeat the Carolina Crusaders 95–83 Saturday afternoon at Greenville First Baptist AYMC. Carolina opened the game with a slight edge, taking a 23–22 lead after the first quarter. However, the Redhawks responded in the second quarter with a major offensive run, outscoring the Crusaders 29–13 to take a 51–36 halftime lead. The Crusaders showed resilience coming out of the break, winning the third quarter 25–22 and attempting to chip away at the deficit. Both teams scored 22 points in the final quarter, but SC Upstate maintained control down the stretch to secure the 12-point victory. Joseph Battle led the Redhawks with a dominant performance, scoring 31 points while shooting efficiently from the floor and converting 13 of 14 free throws. Kamin Bond added 14 points, while Michael Couvson and Kendrick Holloman each contributed 10 points. Wyle Petty made an impact across the stat sheet with 6 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists, helping anchor the Redhawks on the boards. For Carolina, Calvin Cooke III led the Crusaders with 15 points, while Brian Jones added 16 points and 7 rebounds.
