April 18th St Pauls NC - The Balling Brothers picked up an impressive 125–117 win over the SC Upstate RedHawks on Saturday evening at St. Paul High School, using a strong middle stretch to take control and hold off a late push.
Balling Brothers came out with energy, leading 30–27 after the first quarter, then created separation in the second with a 36–22 run to take a solid halftime advantage. They continued to apply pressure in the third quarter, adding another 36 points to extend the lead before the RedHawks made a push in the fourth. Despite being outscored 35–23 in the final period, Balling Brothers had already built enough cushion to secure the victory.
Offensively, Balling Brothers showcased balance and efficiency, shooting 47.5% from the field as a team. Josh Williams led the way with 26 points, while Mike Smith added 25, including strong perimeter shooting. Travis Cooper controlled the interior with 16 points and 18 rebounds, providing a dominant presence on the glass. Shakeem White contributed 16 points and helped facilitate the offense, while multiple players chipped in to keep the scoring spread across the lineup.
SC Upstate was led by Joseph Battle, who poured in a game-high 39 points in a standout performance. Justin McKinney added 20 points, and Wylie Petty contributed 15, as the RedHawks shot an efficient 53.2% from the field. However, their slow second quarter proved costly, forcing them to play from behind for most of the game.
Balling Brothers’ ability to control the tempo in the middle quarters and dominate the boards ultimately made the difference, as they secured a key win heading into Sunday’s action.
With the victory, the Balling Brothers improve to 4–3 on the season, while the RedHawks fall to 3–3.
