April 25th Columbia SC - The Carolina Crusaders delivered a strong all-around performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating the SC Upstate RedHawks 112–94 at Heathwood Hall Gymnasium. Carolina set the tone early with efficient scoring and never let up, finishing the game shooting an impressive 50.6% from the field while dominating inside the arc at 57.6%. Their balance offensively and control on the glass proved to be the difference, as they outrebounded the RedHawks 57–36.
D’Monte Evans led the Crusaders with 23 points on an efficient 10-of-15 shooting, adding 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Brian Jones was nearly flawless, pouring in 20 points on a perfect 7-for-7 from the field while grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds. Calvin Cooke III added 19 points, while Landon Harrison chipped in 17 points and contributed across the board with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Quan Prowell also made his presence felt with 12 points and 9 rebounds.
As a team, Carolina moved the ball well and took care of possessions, finishing with 10 assists and shooting a strong 93.7% from the free throw line.
For SC Upstate, Joseph Battle led all scorers with 32 points and added 10 rebounds in a standout effort. Wylie Petty contributed 20 points, while Kamin Bond added 12 points and 4 assists. Despite those efforts, the RedHawks struggled offensively as a unit, shooting just 39.6% from the field and 20.7% from three-point range.
Carolina’s physicality, efficiency, and depth ultimately proved too much, as they controlled the game from start to finish and secured the 18-point victory.
