Carolina Showtime added for 2020 season

The East Coast Basketball League announced today the addition of the Carolina Showtime to the Southern Conference. Troy Kennedy, owner of the South Carolina Celtics, applied for membership in the Columbia region, but due to league requirements he was asked to look at another region to apply for. During this process league VP Kristen Dickerson introduced Kennedy to Maurice Livingston who's Carolina Showtime team was a travel team in 2017 and has stayed active over the past few years playing as a independent playing against numerous minor league teams in exhibition games.

The two owners decided on a merge where the Celtics could move to Orangeburg as co-owners the team and take the Carolina Showtime name.

The Celtics competed in the South Carolina UBA the last two seasons. As a player, Kennedy made the UBA All-Star team in 2018, selected to play in the Mediterranean Cup in Spain, and in 2019 played in the Copa Mitchell Cup in Santiago. Kennedy will act as the team General Manager and ECBL team representative.

David Slaughter will guild Showtime on the court having coaching experience in the Columbia area at Airport HS, Dreher HS, and Gray Collegiate Academy. Coach Slaughter will be working with both Livingston and Kennedy as they look to put a competitive team together for the upcoming season.
