The SC Upstate Redhawks delivered a dominant performance Saturday night, rolling past the Carolina Panthers 122–65 in regular season action. After building a commanding 24–6 lead in the first quarter, the Redhawks never looked back. They poured in 39 points in the second quarter to take a 63–21 halftime advantage and continued to control the tempo throughout the second half.
SC Upstate’s offense was firing on all cylinders, shooting 49% from the field (48-of-98) and an efficient 56.9% inside the arc. Their ball movement was especially impressive, finishing with 35 assists as a team. They also controlled the glass with 51 rebounds and created extra possessions with 20 steals.
Joseph Battle led the way with a game-high 30 points on 13-of-21 shooting, anchoring a balanced Redhawks attack that saw multiple players contribute. J.C. Montgomery added 12 points, while Anthony Adger and Jimmy Fritsche each chipped in 11. Chuck McLaurin, Darius Downs, and Kamin Bond all finished with 10 points apiece, showcasing the team’s depth.
For Carolina, Christian Clegg paced the scoring effort with 18 points. Aundrea Grubb and Decarlo Brunson II each contributed 12 points, while Jamir Deberry added 8. Despite forcing 16 steals, the Panthers struggled offensively, shooting just 29.1% from the floor and 21.9% from three-point range.
From the opening tip, SC Upstate set the tone defensively and maintained consistent pressure on both ends of the floor. The Redhawks’ balanced scoring, unselfish play, and defensive intensity proved to be the difference in a decisive victory.
